Synopsis
Why We Pride centres on the people behind Southend Pride, exploring what the event means to those who organise it, attend it, and find connection through it. Through voices from across the community, the film reflects on visibility, belonging, and the importance of creating affirming spaces in a coastal town often overlooked in wider conversations. Rather than focusing on celebration alone, the film considers Pride as an act of presence and resilience, shaped by personal stories, shared struggle, and collective care. Why We Pride highlights how community driven events can foster connection, challenge prejudice, and offer a sense of belonging to those who need it most.
