Director Biography – Nico Susilo
Nico Susilo was born in Surabaya, Indonesia, and currently lives in Toronto, Canada. Graduated from Korea National University of Arts, Seoul, South Korea in 2017, he studied broadcast television and documentary filmmaking. Kecut (2023) is his short debut as a filmmaker, and Their World in Colour (2025) is his first documentary project.
Charlene Chua’s illustration is the epitome of a progressive visual-art. Delving into Charlene’s artwork and collaborating with them through Their World in Colour have taught me, as a queer-filmmaker, on how important it is to be the voice for our community in creative and persistent ways.
