Director Biography – Clara Marshall
Director Clara Marshall grew up in a small town in rural Idaho and went to film school at Boston University. After many years of working behind the scenes, Clam Diving for Beginners is her directorial debut. The story is based heavily on her personal experiences of discovering her queerness and laughing through the awkward moments that arise in new queer relationships.
Clara created “Clam Diving for Beginners” to bring a queer story to a mainstream audience. Being queer isn’t just about suffering, it’s also about self-discovery and joy. The central theme is “journey of sexual discovery”. This is a topic most people face in life, and she believes that all audience members can connect with this character and this story.
