Synopsis

Armed with nothing but peer pressure and gay panic, Sam decides to talk to her crush, Dana, the very cute human that owns her favorite bookstore. But what Sam doesn’t know is that Dana likes her too. Even though there’s instant chemistry between Sam & Dana a small misunderstanding could derail their chance at love.

Director Biography – Emily Claibourne and Hilary Williams

This is Emily’s first time writing and directing for film. As a kid, Emily consumed anything and everything that was remotely queer leaning and this project is a reflection of what they wanted to see growing up. Whenever they’re not being creative they are chasing their toddler around telling them to only put big rocks in their mouth.

Director Statement

Too often, queer stories only get made if they rely on a gimmick. But we aren’t gimmicks. We can exist in every story, and DO exist in every story. Book Cute doesn’t have to be a story told by queer folx, but I think we tell it better. This piece is a love letter to my younger self who always wished for representation on the screen.
