Synopsis
Gerda (73) has just lost her husband. She has lived the perfect life, where appearances have been the most important thing to her. Now being alone she finds safety in perfection. This suddenly changes when she finds some letters in the basement from a male lover of her late husband. She slowly has to face the fact, that she might have been living a lie for all those years. She initially tries to bury the realization of the new truth and she’s doing so with a strange new hobby. She weeds graves. It starts on her husband’s grave, but soon she goes on to surrounding graves. She is unable to stop, right until she gets caught, by Carl. An unexpected friendship between the two of them starts to sprouts and meeting Carl forces Gerda to face to truth. Gerda finds the courage to seek out the mysterious man from the letters, only to find out that he has dementia and is sitting in a nursing home getting daily visits from his wife. Gerda now has to decide if she can let go of her past and start living her life truly.
Director Biography – Peter Ahlén
Peter Ahlén is a Danish director known for his short films Mørke Rum/Perpetual (2015) which travelled to more than 75 international festivals, Akvarieklubben/The Aquarium (2020) and the Nordic Crime series Trom (2022) which was selected for the Golden Nymph at Monte Carlo TV-festival and won the jury special prize
