Synopsis

Ella Ella is a personal documentary that spotlights Ella, a drag performer who recently came out as a trans girl. The film interlaces the retelling of Ella’s gender discovery with her physical transformation into the drag queen Ella Mayo. As her body undergoes makeup, hair and wardrobe, we discover the delicate relationship between two Ellas, and how one has aided the other’s becoming.

Director Biography – Eddy Yang

Eddy Yang is an emerging director that aspires to magnify delicate glimpses of the human experience. Having immigrated to Canada from Shenyang, China, Eddy’s creative vision is beautifully amplified by his Chinese cultural heritage. After graduating from McGill University with a specialization in Film Studies, Eddy now gains practical filmmaking experience in the Film and Television Production program at Humber College. As a queer artist himself, directing Ella Ella marks the first step in his wish to unfold more queer stories on the big screen. Eddy is excited about the challenges ahead and how they will elevate him as a filmmaker.
